Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

The Journal Elections and Political Parties (JEPP) follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure high academic integrity and quality. This review process helps maintain objectivity and fairness in evaluating submitted manuscripts.

1. Submission & Initial Screening

  • Authors submit manuscripts through the online submission system.
  • The editorial team conducts an initial screening to ensure compliance with the journal's scope, formatting, and ethical guidelines.
  • Papers that do not meet basic requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected at this stage.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

In the double-blind review process:

  • The identities of authors and reviewers are kept anonymous.
  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.
  • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodology, clarity, and contribution to political and electoral studies.

3. Reviewer Feedback & Author Revisions

  • Reviewers provide constructive feedback and recommendations.
  • Authors may be required to make revisions based on reviewer comments.
  • Revised manuscripts undergo a second round of review (if necessary).

4. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer feedback, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted: The manuscript is ready for publication.
  • Minor Revisions: Requires small improvements before final approval.
  • Major Revisions: Significant changes needed before reconsideration.
  • Rejected: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards.

5. Final Proofreading & Publication

  • Accepted manuscripts go through final proofreading and layout formatting.
  • The final version is published online in the journal's latest issue.

6. Peer Review Timeline

The estimated duration of the peer review process is 6-8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the need for revisions.

7. Ethical Considerations

  • Reviewers must ensure confidentiality and avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and research misconduct.

Thank you for contributing to a high-quality peer review process at JEPP!
